Special Contributors

Andre Gunther: While searching for pilgrim pictures, we were fortunate to have found  Andre Gunther who lives in San
Jose, California with his wife. Andre has donated many of the backgrounds we use on our web-page.  You can
visit this astounding photographer at
http://www.aguntherphotography.com and view his pictures, read his articles, and
just have fun browsing.

Mr. & Mrs. Abbott: The Activities Department would like to thank authors, Mr. & Mrs. Abbott who have, in the past, and
recently donated their uplifting poem books.  These books are not only used by our department, but as students of the
Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals (MEPAP) course, we hand them out to other students for their
facilities to use as well.  Mr. & Mrs. Abbott’s poems are beautifully written, inspirational, and a wonderful addition to any
library.  Please visit them at
http://www.poemsofjoy.com and while you are there, print out a poem or two.
Art Program: Here are some pictures of our budding artists, our volunteer Anthony teaches this group.

Blue Claws Game
Recently our residents went to First Energy Park and saw a Blue Claws Baseball Game. The Lakewood Blue Claws are a minor league baseball
team affiliated with the Philadelphia Phillies. They are based in Lakewood, New Jersey, and play in the Class A South Atlantic League.

As our residents rooted for their team, they enjoyed hot dogs, french fries and drinks. One of our residents, had never been to a baseball game
and she was thrilled. When we were there, we even ran into one of our entertainers and his wife who came to enjoy the game. We had a fun filled,
exciting night and are looking forward to our next game. GO BLUE CLAWS!
Summer Olympics
During the 2008 Summer Olympic Games our Arm-Chair destination was Beijing, People’s Republic of China to cheer on our fellow
Americans. We were very proud when Michael Phelps won his record 8 Gold Medals in men’s swimming, Natalie Coughlin won her 6 Gold
Medals in women’s swimming, and Gymnast Nastia Liukin won the gold for Individual All-Around. As for our teams - men's and women's
basketball, men's volleyball, women's soccer and the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay, we were delighted that they all won the gold!
"Marilyn and Anastasia": Marilyn and Anastasia
had been volunteering for 4 months before moving to
Manchester and thankfully chose us 2 months
ago to continue their volunteering. Anastasia is the
cutest little Therapy Pet we have. Our residents look
forward to Tuesday afternoon when Marilyn brings
Anastasia to pet, hug and love."
Marie: "Marie has been volunteering for many years.
She has a Rosary group, gives Communion to those
who cannot attend the group, and helps with BINGO!
Our residents love her and so do we."
On Eagle's Wings- Rev. James, his wife Patricia and their
friend Jean sing, read scriptures, bring the word of God
and reinforce our resident's strength.
Anthony: Anthony has been a volunteer with us for the
last 16 years. Anthony's caring and dedication makes
our residents feel as if he is family.
