The Pediatric Day Health Center at Manchester is a very special place.
We have created a unique environment with your child in mind. Every
day that your child attends our center, you will have peace of mind
that the medical attention that is needed will be available. Your child
will be able to engage in developmental activities that are well
planned, appropriate and fun.
Taking care of Educational Needs
Education is a strong point of our centers. Professional teachers will provide daily routines that include free play
and structured time. The children will participate in activities such as circle time, arts and crafts, music and
movement, story time, sensory play, which will develop fine and gross motor skills. A communication book
explaining you child's activities, including a full behavioral report, will be sent home daily. There exists an open
line of communication. We always welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
Taking care of Family Needs
We realize the emotional support for families is a vital component of your child's care. This support may include
personal issues such as securing Medicaid benefits, obtaining food stamps/WIC or other financial assistance and
help in arranging medical transport for clinic visits. Our social workers will assist in referring you to Early
Intervention for evaluations as well as work closely with children who have behavioral difficulties within the
classroom setting.
Taking care of Medical Needs
We have put together a team of health care professionals that are both caring and knowledgeable. Our team
members include nurses trained in pediatrics, social workers, and an activity staff along with our pharmacist,
dietitian, and therapists, all under the direction of our pediatrician.
After a complete assessment we will be able to develop a plan for your child. With the input and approval and your
pediatrician we will know exactly what treatments, services, medications and diet to provide. With this in mind,
we will plan your child's day at our facility.
Our occupational therapists will work closely with you and your physicians, hospitals and outside agencies such as
Early Intervention Services, to ensure that the medical and rehabilitation needs of your child are met. If additional
speech, physical therapy, special education, or psychological services are required, the therapists will help
coordinate the program. The occupational therapist will obtain special orders as needed and update you and your
doctors on your child's progress. As your child reaches school age or is enrolled in a preschool disabled program,
the therapist will assist in the transition as well. We will always be there to help.
